Conni's Avant Garde Restaurant: Feast of Miracles
Thank you Cleveland for supporting this completely SOLD OUT run!
CPT doing dinner theatre??? Conni's Avant-Garde Restaurant (a Time Out New York favorite and Village Voice Choice), is not a locale but a group of bold (if fictional) theatrical performers, devoted to the work of Conni Convergence, the beloved (and again, fictional) icon of stage and screen. Onstage in the Gordon Square Theatre December 2-December 19.
Hailed as "dinner theatre of the absurd" by The New York Times, this unique theatrical-culinary event mixes the ingredients of fine food, wine, and ensemble theatre together in a loving send-up of avant-garde pomposity.
It's the holidays at Conni's Avant Garde Restaurant and nerves are frayed, old conflicts arise and secrets are revealed. Miss Goodi Two Shoes, the baton-twirling ex-beauty queen is pregnant (!!!) and the company is in disarray. General Manager Sue James does her best to crack the whip and keep everyone in line, but it's not working. Dr. Smith, of questionable repute, and Mrs. Robinson, a washed-up rocker guy and a host of other colorful characters serve up an incredible meal and an unforgettable holiday experience. You'll never guess what happens next.
This hilarious musical performance includes crazy cabaret, improv comedy, death, violence,
and a five course meal.
Come and experience this eclectic, fun evening and uniquely theatrical event!

"It is safe to presume that you've never before experienced anything like "Conni's" - unless you saw it in New York or you had Thanksgiving in an asylum for schizophrenic Iron Chefs. It is a drunken (or at least buzzed) and debauched bacchanalia led by 13 whacked-out and in-yer-face actor-singer-dancers who also serve food, share Turkey shots and administer "prescriptions" filled in a small chamber at intermission. Give yourself over to absolute pleasure."
Tony Brown, The Plain Dealer
"...it's wonderful. Energizing. Hillarious. Filling. Maybe Brilliant. ...Here's a guarantee: You have never experienced anything like it. Unless, of course, your mom is a top chef and certifiably insane."
Christine Howey on Rave and Pan
"Conni's is heart-warming entertainment, in all senses of the word. It's the locally sourced above-average meal (the butternut squash soup and chocolate Bundt cake are tops). It's the loving care the performers put into both their characters and their hospitality. It's the connection you feel as you become part of the community that forms throughout the evening."
Brian Patrick Thorton, Spangle Magazine
