Browns Rules

CPT is proud to present the World Premiere of Browns Rules, onstage in the Gordon Square Theatre from November 19 - December 13 (Paid Preview on November 19 and 20; Opening Night on Saturday, November 21).

A cabaret-style world-premiere by nationally recognized local playwright Eric Schmiedl, Browns Rules is both a send-up and a love-letter to The Cleveland Browns.

Three performer musicians and the audience are on a mission - successfully name the 29 rules of being a Cleveland Browns Fan and the Browns will win the Superbowl in 2010. In one night at CPT, three performers and the audience urgently attempt to alter history, save our city and name all 29 rules.

Part vaudeville, part sideshow, part variety show Browns Rules is an interactive exploration of the relationship between Cleveland and our beloved football team. With a rock band on stage, three performers combine storytelling and drama as they rip apart myths, celebrate heroes, and try to understand what makes the Cleveland Browns so important to our culture. What was the All-America Football Conference and who destroyed it? How did Paul Brown inspire his famous 1949 all-star team? Art Modell, friend or foe? Who called "Red Right 88?" Who wrote the song "Bernie, Bernie?" Cleveland Browns Stadium, asset or financial disaster? These questions and more are examined as Browns Rules looks at our dear Brownies and the city that loves and hates them.

Browns Rules RULES! Congratulations to your entire troupe for a wonderful show (saw it last Sat.). It was really a great evening and one that should bring new audiences into the theatre.

Thank you, Rosie. You are too kind.

I'd race to see any production Bill Hoffman had a hand in. Hoffman is a brilliant musician, actor and director. Cleveland is lucky he moved back there from New York!
Janet
Saw the Friday performance of Browns Rules. It was fantastic - very, very funny and touching, too. Perfect entertainment for Browns fans. Or anyone that loves and appreciated comedy.

The show is definitely more satisfying than this Browns season! They remember a time when the Browns were great and laugh at current misfortunes.

Thoroughly entertaining with terrific original music. The skit about Browns Backers worldwide is hilarious! Don't miss this gem!
Walker
Yah, our offense dahsh blaust!

now at 1-5! I'm sure I'll be at one of the shows. The Cleveland Browns fans are in need of a good laugh.

At 0-3 and counting this show has a chance of salvaging the season.
