Week #5 (May 14 – 17): Double-Edge Dance
CPT is proud to present XspanD, an evening of intriguing and imagistic solos and duets from Double-Edge Dance as part of DanceWorks 09!
XspanD is a series of solos and duets formed around the spans of time, memory and relationships. Expand as you watch the diverse and poetic performances evolve through this Double-Edge Dance multi-media event. Choreography by Kora Radella, Julie Brodie and Balinda Craig-Quijada will come alive with new music composed by Ross Feller, performed by violinist Dorothy Martirano and bassist Armand Beaudion. Artists Rebecca Cross and Adele Mattern create unique landscapes within XspanD. Internationally renowned dance improviser Kirstie Simson will also be featured during the Thursday-Saturday evening performances.
Double-Edge Dance is a contemporary dance and music company co-founded in 1993 by choreographer/dancer Kora Radella and composer/saxophonist Ross Feller. They have performed their work throughout the U.S.A. and in Amsterdam, Basel, Barcelona, and Brussels. Double-Edge Dance maintains a sense of live spontaneity through set composition, open improvisation, and collaboration with other artists.
