Aramis: A charismatic young black man in his twenties, exuding a contemporary urban vibe. With a smooth demeanor and a quick wit, he captivates others. Aramis is a cunning trickster, skillfully navigating life’s challenges with a mischievous charm that is both delightful and dangerous.
George: An aging man in his sixties, George carries a sense of wisdom and vulnerability. Time has weakened him physically, but he remains emotionally resilient. Despite his struggles, there is a lingering aura of past strength. George battles his demons with alcohol, finding solace and inspiration within its depths. He possesses the soul of a tormented poet.
Disclosure: Some roles in the production have been cast. The current cast includes: Cristal Christian, Ashley Aquilla, Kynnedy Stewart, LaShawn Little, Amy Spencer, & Isaiah Bett.
About The Play…
A woman recently released from prison, and her loved ones, experience a crisis of faith when her 15-year-old daughter becomes pregnant under mysterious and perhaps miraculous circumstances. A World Premiere.
About The Process…
Rehearsals will begin on or around September 12th, 2023. Rehearsals are 5-6 times a week, with evening weekday rehearsals and some daytime weekend rehearsals.

OUR LADY OF COMMON SORROWS runs October 19th – November 4th or 5th, Thu/Fri/Sat/Mon at 7:00pm, with two Sunday matinees in the James Levin Theatre.

Auditions…
Wednesday, July 5th, 6:30pm – 9:00pm, Thursday July 6th, 6:30pm-9:00pm, and Callbacks will be Friday, July 7th, from 6:30pm-9:00pm.
Auditions are by appointment only and will be scheduled in 15-minute increments.
Prepared auditions will be individual, but you may be asked to stay and read with a fellow actor. Actors should plan to stay at the audition for up to 75 minutes, though you may be released sooner. The director, Jaiie Dayo-Aliya, will be watching the auditions.
What to Prepare…
- Prepare a short monologue.
- Some actors may be asked to do cold readings from sides provided by CPT at the audition.

About the Playwright/Director:
Jaiie Dayo-Aliya (He/They) is an Akron Arts Alive and Knight Arts Challenge Award-Winning playwright, actor, and musician. They studied at Kent State University, where they majored in Theater Arts and Pan-African Studies. They are Artistic Director of Ma’Sue Productions. With Ma’Sue, Dayo-Aliya has produced eight plays in the past nine years that have received numerous accolades and press in local media such as; The Devil Strip, Akron Beacon Journal, Cleveland Plain Dealer, Akronlife Magazine, and many other locally and regionally published media outlets. His work has been produced at Balch Street Theatre, Cleveland Public Theatre, and Akron Civic Theatre. They were also the 2020/2021 Nord Family Foundation Playwright Fellow at CPT.
