Cleveland Public Theatre’s 2018/2019 Season

Cleveland Public Theatre previews 2018/2019 Season

Here and Now

“CPT’s work is here. It is locally grown. And it confronts contemporary issues and social norms – struggles of now. But our work is also about the ongoing human obligation to live in the present moment. Theatre is about the sense of being alive in this moment. It’s about a responsibility to the world to respond to what is happening outside us and something bigger than ourselves, to live fully in the moment. We often think these two ideas can’t live together simultaneously – confronting the dark while existing in and appreciating the present moment.”

-Raymond Bobgan, CPT EXECUTIVE Artistic Director

Cleveland Public Theatre Announces

2018/2019 New Play Development
Request for Proposals

Deadline EXTENDED!
DEADLINE FOR submissions is Monday, June 18, 2018

CPT’s New Play Development

CPT’s mission is to raise consciousness and nurture compassion through groundbreaking performances and life-changing education programs. CPT’s programming agenda is to produce work that is outside the mainstream, offering a much broader range of work available to the Cleveland public and expanding the impact and originality of theatre across the country. CPT strives to make work that is excellent, extraordinary, and nationally competitive.

Our new play development programs are based on our years of experience, community input, and key principles of: focusing on artists; valuing diversity of approach, aesthetics, and perspective; and balancing impact with investment.

We envision CPT as a nationally recognized hub for the development of new theatre that is extraordinary, edgy, and relevant. We hope to be a model for nurturing local talent in similar sized markets, the most regarded cultivator of new theatre for Cleveland audiences, a laboratory for promising research and investigation, and a launcher of nationally significant new plays.

Cleveland Public Theatre is Hiring a Pandemonium Intern

Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT) is hiring a paid part-time summer Pandemonium Intern. CPT will be accepting applications for this position through Sunday, April 15.

Every September, CPT hosts its one and only fundraising spectacular: Pandemonium. It takes over 6 months to plan; hosts over 1,300 guests, 300 artists who donate their time, and 150 volunteers; and raises between $250,000 and $315,000 each year for our programming. Even with our small but mighty development department of 3 staff members, there is a great need for extra help in the summer as the event approaches. In this capacity, the intern would work directly with our Director of Development and Development Assistant on a wide variety of event planning tasks. Read More ›
