CLEVELAND PUBLIC THEATRE SEEKS GRANTS WRITER / DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE

CPT seeks a Grants Writer / Development Associate willing to join its hard-working team with the ambitious goals of growing the organization and changing the community.

Summary of Position: This position is a year round, salaried, staff position. Salary is competitive and based on experience and capacity. The Grants Writer / Development Associate prepares proposals and reports for foundation, government, and corporate donors. This position is responsible for supporting CPT in achieving its fundraising goals with a focus on grant writing. Duties also include the production of correspondence and support documents in relation to grants as well as funder research, database maintenance, proofreading and editing, and some administrative responsibilities.

The Grants Writer / Development Associate reports to the Director of Development and has the following responsibilities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Produces proposals and reports to foundation, government, and corporate donors
  2. Produces correspondence regarding grant administration, including thank you letters, queries, and cover letters
  3. Prepares documents as part of grant applications, including budgets, expense reports, bios, and season play lists
  4. Copyedits and proofreads proposals, applications, reports, and other documents
  5. Prepares application packages for grant proposals, including photocopying, filing, and mailing
  6. Liaises with the Development staff and other departments in the collection of program information needed for grant proposals and reports, including statistics, brochures, programs, photos, ticket sales reports, and reviews
  7. Enters gifts and maintains donor information in database
  8. Prepares and tracks invitations to education programs and other special events
  9. Researches and identifies new funding sources
  10. Facilitates donor notes
  11. Other duties as assigned

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides administrative support, including the maintenance of grant-related files and paperwork
  2. Works as a team member with the rest of the staff at special events
  3. Attends meetings and takes notes when necessary
  4. Maintains good work habits including promptness, adherence to CPT workplace policies, preparedness for meetings and events, and responsive follow-through on all donor, supervisor, and staff requests
  5. Maintains a positive attitude with donors and staff
  6. Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Excellent writing and proofreading skills
  2. Ability to gather and organize information about programs, including their background and history, goals, and objectives
  3. Consistent attention to detail and accuracy
  4. Ability to stay organized and meet deadlines
  5. Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  6. Must enjoy people and be comfortable in an environment with diverse people
  7. Enthusiasm and dedication
  8. Ability to work some evenings and weekends
  9. Must be able to work effectively and efficiently
  10. Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  11. Database experience
  12. Background in – or knowledge of – theatre arts preferred but not required
