2023 PAN AWARD HONOREE: NIC BARLAGE

NIC IS A CHAMPION OF THE ARTS, EDUCATION, DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION, AND OUR GREATER CLEVELAND COMMUNITY.

Nic Barlage is CEO of Rock Entertainment Group, the umbrella entity of the teams and venues that are part of Cleveland Cavaliers Chairman Dan Gilbert’s Rock Family of Companies. In his role, he oversees the NBA Cavaliers, the AHL Cleveland Monsters, the NBA G League Cleveland Charge and Cavs Legion of the NBA 2K League; and the operation of Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Legion Lair Lit by TCP home of Cavs Legion in Cleveland and Cleveland Clinic Courts – the Cavaliers’ training and development center in Independence, Ohio. He also played a core leadership role in the day-to-day planning, design, and construction of the newly transformed Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, which opened before the start of the Cavaliers 2019-20 season.

His impressive professional resume has earned him a lot of attention over the last several years, from being named as one of Sports Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 to making the cover of Cleveland Magazine as one of their Most Interesting People 2023. Mentors and colleagues all agree that his work ethic is “off the charts,” but what ultimately drives Barlage is his desire to build a sense of pride and belonging in every community of which he is part.

Nic also serves as President of the Cavaliers Community Foundation, an organization that donates hundreds of thousands of dollars every year to support education, food security, youth wellness and recreation, and creating safe spaces to live, learn, work, and play. Recently, the foundation has supported such vital local organizations as Adaptive Sports Ohio, Cleveland Ballet, Family Promise of Greater Cleveland, and the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland. A recent donation to the King Kennedy Boys and Girls Club supported substantial renovations for their gymnasium, kitchen, and game room.

Personally, Barlage is also a long-time supporter and advisory board member of the Cleveland Sports Commission, American Red Cross, Cleveland Clinic Pediatrics Leadership Council, and the local Boys & Girls Club. He and his wife, Traci, have two daughters, Brooklyn and Kennedy.

We are thrilled to designate Nic as our 2023 PAN Award recipient and to recognize his exceptional service to our community. We look forward to celebrating him on September 9!
