An exploration of the human spirit! A triumph! The Musicalling is the most ambitious extravaganza in the history of musical theatre history! The magnum opus of longtime closeted playwright/librettist/composer Ian Adler, the pre-production took a decade alone! And, yet, somehow, the cast still wasn’t ready when the audience arrived.
The Musicalling is indeed a musical extravaganza about the titular musical production that finds itself with an unwitting cast. Although the to-be production is not yet in rehearsals, a group of stage technicians find themselves faced with an inexplicably packed house. What was likely to be a quiet evening of set construction and lighting design becomes the performance of a lifetime. Under the insistence of the incredibly prepared, and perhaps precognizant orchestra , the new cast of The Musicalling finds themselves center-stage, out of their element, and on the path to self-discovery. Others find the work a more ephemeral allegory of the 2004 US Presidential Election; Adler, however, denies these claims heatedly. We leave you, the audience, to judge.
Written by Ian Adler (Matt Greenfield) and arranged by Joe Barone, The Musicalling features the talents of LaJuan Foust, Amanda Clark, Shawn Michelle, Matt Goldman, Liz Huff and Melissa DeLucchi.
