The writers, directors, actors, and designers selected for Big Box dedicate themselves to creating new and original work, or stretching their artistic powers by working in new disciplines.

What does it mean to live in a “Post-Racial America”? In the fight for Equality, what gets lost as We become more visible? What is gained? The lives of five very different people collide in this fearless new play that explores the circumstances surrounding a violent hate crime and its impact. Explicit language and references to sex and violence.
Artist Bio:
Andrew Kramer is from Cleveland, OH but currently lives in NYC, where he is a member of the Emerging Writer’s Group at The Public Theater. He was a 2013 Springboard playwright at Cleveland Public Theatre, as well as runner-up in Horse & Cart Theatre’s playwriting competition, The PlayOffs in Denver, where his play, The Totem of the Month Club will have its world premiere in June. He is an alumni writer of the Groundbreakers Playwrights’ Group with the terraNOVA Theatre Collective, The Ingram New Works Lab at Tennessee Repertory Theatre in Nashville, a Core Apprentice Writer at the Playwrights’ Center in Minneapolis, as well as a two-time semi-finalist in the Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Play Festival in both 2010 and 2011. Also in 2011, Andrew served as Playwright-in-Residence at the Cairns Arts Festival in Queensland, Australia, where his play Whales & Souls saw its world premiere. He was a 2013 finalist for the 2050 Playwriting Fellowship at the Tony Award winning New York Theatre Workshop, as well as on the shortlist for the Old Vic, New Voices US/UK writer’s exchange, under Artistic Director Kevin Spacey. He is currently a semi-finalist for the Page 73 Playwriting Fellowship. His work has been seen in Cleveland, Chicago, New York, Sacramento, Denver, Houston, Louisville, Nashville, Williamsburg, Minneapolis, and Australia. He is a 2010 graduate of Ball State University’s Department of Theatre & Dance in Muncie, Indiana.
Sarah Greywitt spent ten years working in Chicago’s off-loop theatre scene as an actor, director and producer. She loves the work of Michael Chekhov, and has worked with The Moving Dock Theatre Company, and studied with The Michael Chekhov Association and Great Lakes Michael Chekhov Consortium. She has also studied Meisner with The Artistic Home in Chicago and participated in Raymond Bobgan’s devised directing class at Cleveland Public Theatre. Originally from Northeast Ohio, Sarah started her work in theatre at the Beck Center, where she was a student in their children and teen theatre classes and productions for many years. Since her return to the area, she has been working with Cleveland Public Theatre and appeared in Free Radical and the Late Night Sketchbook: Part Two, The Wedding (Big Box 2013) and Waterways at CPT and also appeared in Motherhood Out Loud at Actors’ Summit. She was assistant director under Pandora Robertson in 13 Most American Dreams at CPT. She directed Kid Mystery and The Bald Soprano with OCTP. Sarah holds an MA in Drama from Washington University in St. Louis. She has taught theatre and acting classes at Foluke Cultural Arts in Cleveland, as well as numerous other after school programs in Chicagoland and Northeast Ohio. She has taught theatre and public speaking classes at The City Colleges of Chicago, and is currently teaching at Cuyahoga Community College.
