Cleveland Public Theatre’s (CPT) mission is to raise consciousness and nurture compassion through groundbreaking performances and life-changing educational programs. Description of Position
This position is a year-round, salaried, staff position. Salary range is 28,000-32,000 and is based on experience and capacity. The Master Electrician and Carpenter is responsible for working with the Technical Director to implement all technical aspects of productions except costumes.
The Master Electrician and Carpenter reports to the Technical Director and the Associate Artistic Director and has the following responsibilities:
- Manage scene shop and maintain its organization
- Maintain tools and equipment
- Maintain technical aspects of performance spaces
- Work with designers to assure that they design within budget and capacity
- Oversee budgets and assure compliance
- Build sets, hang lights and set up sound for performances
- Work with Business Manager for billing and documentation
- Purchase equipment and supplies as needed
- Work with Associate Artistic Director and Technical Director to strategically develop the technical theatre department
- Design opportunities may be available
- Teach and mentor teens in the Technical Theatre Apprenticeship Program
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in shop organization, communication, set building and master electrician work, and have direct experience working in a small scale theatre.
