What We’re Looking For
Proposals should be bold, inventive, entertaining, and thought-provoking. At Pandemonium, anything goes, so be creative and let this year’s theme, The Doors of Imagination, inspire you!
We’re looking for:
- Work that is adventurous and new! CPT has a history of producing work that is “outside the box”. We’re looking for entertaining and compelling pieces
- Pieces that are
- 10-15 minute performances
- on-going installation pieces spanning the entire performance time
- wandering pieces that can perform outdoors
- Pieces that include no more than 5 artists (some exceptions can be made)
- Artists excited by the challenge of making the simple into something beautiful! Pieces should work with minimal technical needs
- A diverse range of artistic offerings. – Proposals can range from bands, dance companies, short plays, art installations, poetry, performance art, wandering characters, comedians – we want your most unique offerings!
- Flexible artistry
While CPT is not able to pay artists for their participation in Pandemonium, all artists are invited to enjoy the party of the year after their performances! CPT also provides free food and beverages in the artist greenroom.
If you would like to be considered for Pandemonium 2022, please complete the included application form.
How Pandemonium Works
While, again, we find ourselves in a position where no one can predict what the world will be like in September, CPT is planning for The Doors of Imagination to be an in-person, outdoor event (with some indoor venues). Much like last year, most performances will take place outdoors or under a tent. We are seeking a large number of performances that will wander throughout the event or “pop-up” in a variety of outdoor areas. However, we are still open to performances requiring an indoor location.
Over 800 guests will be invited to explore the CPT campus and create their own artistic adventure. With more than 30 performances to choose from, spanning 15+ stages, a guest may encounter a band behind the scene shop, short plays on top of a shipping container, wandering performers, and an art installation in the middle of a big tent – all in the span of 20 minutes.
Due to the large scale of Pandemonium, we are seeking creators who are prepared to make beauty of simplicity. Keep in mind that technical support for Pandemonium is limited. Minimalism can be stylish, and we want to see your unique style!
For those pieces and spaces which need a Stage Manager, one will be available for one rehearsal, and the event, but it is up to each artist to provide their own artistic collaborators and produce their individual performance or installation.
Most performances are presented multiple times throughout the evening in a repertory fashion. Visual art and performance installations are typically ongoing but depend on individual needs and space available. Wandering performances are also ongoing for the duration of the event.
Once selections have been made for Pandemonium, artists can expect to engage in information sharing and dialogue about their pieces so that CPT’s production team can prepare performance spaces and other event materials.
